Other work includes illustrations for the children’s novel A Splash of Moonshine (Stanford Publishing), and he worked with his partner Amber Hatch to provide the artwork for Nappy Free Baby, (Vermilion, 2015).
Alex’s artwork is underpinned by a facility in life drawing and still life. He combines his technical skill with playful creative flair to produce imaginative and provocative illustrations. His work encompasses a broad range of styles. Many of the illustrations for Colouring for Contemplation make use of a style reminiscent of wood-cut prints –he “cuts away” the white from a black background to produce a striking image for colouring. He is comfortable depicting simple objects, intricate patterns and whole scenes with detailed backgrounds. Colouring reviewers enjoy the variety and originality of his drawings. Alex practises Buddhist meditation and is committed to cultivating mindfulness in daily life. Visit Alex Ogg's website. |
