Amber Hatch
Amber Hatch is the author of five books in mindfulness and parenting. Her work has been translated 17 times.
Amber is a parent of three and was a childminder for ten years. She developed a baby-led method for potty training from birth and became the UK's leading authority with her book NAPPY FREE BABY (2015). Her pragmatic approach is convenient and intuitive and cuts plastic waste to boot. Her Buddhist meditation practice and teaching has been a major influence in her life and her exploration of combining meditation with raising a family led to the bestselling MINDFULNESS FOR PARENTS (2017). Amber wrote the inspirational words for COLOURING FOR CONTEMPLATION (2015) and MORE COLOURING FOR CONTEMPLATION (2016), alongside her illustrator partner Alex Ogg. Her most recent book is the peaceful and thought-provoking THE ART OF SILENCE (2017). Amber has a background in the book industry, having worked as a bookseller for both Waterstones and Blackwells. She received a first for her English Literature BA at Southampton University, and won an £11K AHRC award for her MA in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University where she received a distinction. Amber is interested in the therapeutic potential of life writing, and how this is explored through the author/ghost collaboration. She volunteers for the mental health charity Mind, where she put together and delivers a course on Writing for Wellbeing. She also teaches writing skills at Oxford University. Alongside her own writing, she provides literary consultancy and is developing a career as a ghostwriter. She has featured in most major newspapers and on BBC radio.
