Becky had to learn to be thrifty when she made the difficult decision to give up work in order to be at home with her two children during the early years. She is a qualified social worker and humanistic psychotherapist, specialising in childcare. Her children are now aged 7 and 10 and for the last 5 years she has worked as a blogger and writer on issues of parenting and budgeting.
Becky was Thrifty Parenting Blogger of the Year 2013 at the MADS (a national parenting blogger awards). She has written regularly for Chad Valley toys around themes of play for their Facebook community and for children’s clothing wear company Muddy Puddles. She writes for Philips Home on budgeting and babies and was selected by Jo Frost’s At Home magazine in their pick-of-the-parenting-blogs on several occasions.
She has made films for iMama TV on parenting and finance and has also written regularly for voucher code sites around budgeting with babies. She has made several YouTube videos on being thrifty and child development for Netmums. In her first book, HOW TO AFFORD TIME OFF WITH YOUR BABY (Vermilion, 2009), Becky shared money-saving tips for managing on less income until a baby starts school. She runs the successful blog and website, www.babybudgeting.co.uk, and is working on a new book.
