Jessamy Hibberd (DClinPsy, MSc, PgDip, BSc) is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, specialising in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for common mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and relationship difficulties. She is passionate about psychology and the benefits it can bring. Through both her academic work and her practice she endeavours to make CBT easy to understand and accessible.
Jessamy is registered with the Health Professions Council and is a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). After her doctorate in Clinical Psychology, she completed a post-graduate diploma in CBT and is accredited with the BABCP. Having worked for over eight years in the NHS, she set up her own practice. Her doctorate, completed for The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, was published in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Most recently she worked for Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust in their Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Team, providing assessment and treatment for anxiety disorders, depression and more severe and enduring mental health problems. Alongside this work, she has experience of consultation and teaching. One of the UK's few young, media-friendly clinical psychologists, Jessamy is co-author of the bestselling THIS BOOK WILL… series published by Quercus, which aims to make psychology accessible and easy to understand. Based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), they are practical, straight-forward and packed full of strategies that are proven to work. Each book provides clear and simple ways to overcome problems leading to immediate results as well as long-term change. Jess is a mother of 3 and lives in Hove, Sussex. Jessamy's book THE IMPOSTER CURE was published in 2019 and explores feeling of inadequacy and how to cope with them. Her first children's book STARS BEFORE BEDTIME was published in 2020 and helps curious children prepare for sleep by uniting an intriguing non-fiction topic with sleep-inducing mindfulness exercises; an effective alternative to the traditional bedtime story.
