Biography

Henry Morris is the addled mind behind The Secret Tory Twitter account.

Bursting onto the satirical scene like a ruptured appendix in 2019, he has been variously known as “the Banksy of Twitter”, “the trending Craig Brown” and “inflamed, swollen and full of pus.”

Delighting Twitter users with his singular parodies of Samuel Pepys, Gulliver’s Travels, Adrian Mole, government WhatsApp chats, broadsheet supplements and Mark Francois’ paintballing antics in Epping Forest, it is a struggle to believe that this man was only a runner-up in the 2003 Face of Harrogate competition.

While as the self-appointed Papua New Guinea Courier UK correspondent, his Letters From London have earned him almost as many fact-checks as he’d had threats of litigation.

He is also behind a series of shorts called The Tories, a parallel comedy universe inhabited by lip-synced MPs that has garnered millions of views and had stars lining up to join in. Using baroque voices to pack more jokes into two minutes than you find in thirty of prime time, regular viewers complain that they can no longer hear the MPs in real life without experiencing abject disappointment. He can’t take all the credit for this.

A recovering personal trainer, Henry spends his spare time putting on raves, stopping birds of prey from being killed by posh people, running ultra marathons, setting cryptic crosswords, clearing fallen trees out of rivers with a chainsaw, and producing open-air Shakespeare. He is a regular on the politics podcast Oh God, What Now?

In his own words, “Nobody knows what I’m for, but I create a feeling in your stomach that makes you want to take me out.”
