Biography

Pip Hare is the CEO of Britain’s leading Ocean Race team and is the 8th woman in history to finish the Vendée Globe Yacht Race, a world record.

Growing up in land-locked Cambridgeshire, Pip had neither the role models nor the contacts to make a career in yacht racing. She realised that to succeed she had to create her own opportunities. ‘If someone said I couldn’t do it, I simply walked around them and found my own solution’.

Pip now has a professional sailing career spanning 25 years. She has sailed most of the world’s oceans but only found the opportunity to break into solo sailing in 2013, when she entered the OSTAR race from Plymouth UK to Newport, USA. Since completing that race Pip has worked her way through the international ranks of solo and ocean racing, competing in all the major classes, training with determination, project managing and fundraising for her own campaigns every step of the way.

In June 2020, sponsored by Medallia, Pip took on the world in the Vendée Globe race in November 2020. It is one of the toughest endurance challenges on the planet, and she will tackle it again in 2024, ‘faster, fitter & more determined than ever’.
