​Amber Hatch is a Buddhist and mother of three who writes about practical mindfulness and a range of health topics.


 

Biography

Amber Hatch is the author of five books in mindfulness and parenting. Her work has been translated in 17 languages. 

Amber is a parent of three and was a childminder for ten years. She developed a baby-led method for potty training from birth and became the UK’s leading authority on the subject.

Her Buddhist meditation practice and teaching has been a major influence in her life. While volunteering for the mental health charity Mind, she put together and delivered a course on Writing for Wellbeing. She also taught writing skills at Oxford University.

Amber also writes children’s fiction and placed joint second in the inaugural Yoto Audio Maker Competition (2023) with a story that explores the challenges facing refugees.

Alongside her own writing, she provides literary consultancy and also works as a ghostwriter.

She has featured in most major newspapers and on BBC radio.


 

Books

NAPPY FREE BABY was published by Penguin Random House in 2015. This pragmatic approach to nappies is convenient and intuitive and cuts plastic waste to boot.

MINDFULNESS FOR PARENTS, published by Watkins in 2017 and explores combining meditation with raising a family.

COLOURING FOR CONTEMPLATION and MORE COLOURING FOR CONTEMPLATION, also published by Watkins (2015 and 2016), were created alongside her illustrator partner Alex Ogg.

THE ART OF SILENCE came out with Piatkus in 2017 (HB) and 2020 (PB).

THE CALM SKIN GUIDE, a collaboration with Jae Rance, the eczema expert, was published by Souvenir Press in April 2024.
