Biography
Historian Luke Tomes is a producer and presenter at History Hit. In his flagship series 'Could You Survive', Luke steps into the shoes of our ancestors, whether they be redcoat soldiers, Roman legionaries, racing drivers or sailors. Luke is at the forefront of the evolving history space and has amassed tens of millions of views on his videos across YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, reaching a broad demographic of history lovers but also encouraging those who thought history was “boring” to think again. Since 2020, he has been presenting videos for History Hit and worked with the likes of Dan Snow, Suzannah Lipscombe, Alice Loxton and David Mitchell, both on and off screen.
In 2024, he was selected as one of BBC History Extra’s ‘30 under 30’ list for his leading on-screen contributions to history. At History Hit, he has been pivotal to the YouTube channel’s growth, from a few thousand subscribers to over 2 million in 2026, and part of the TV team winning two Broadcast Digital Awards for ‘Best Specialist Channel’ (2023 & 2024), ‘Best Factual Channel’ (2025 & 2026) and the first ever TellyCast Digital Video Award for ‘Best History Channel’ in 2025.
