Biography

Jo Millington is one of the UK’s leading forensic scientists. She started her career in Scotland, before moving to the homicide division of the Forensic Science Service in London. She transferred from there to the Specialist Forensics Division of the Metropolitan Police Service and then joined a small independent company before setting up her own forensic science consultancy.

Jo is a renowned specialist in Bloodstain Pattern Analysis (BPA) and delivers a range of training courses to professionals, students and future forensic scientists, and true crime fans both online and internationally. She is Honorary Professor of Practice in Forensic Science at University College London and a specialist advisor to government agencies on forensic science policy and practice. In recent years she has been a Trustee and Advisory Panel member for Inside Justice, an award-winning charity that investigates alleged miscarriages of justice.

Alongside her investigative work, Jo is the Forensic Advisor on 'Silent Witness', 'Sister Boniface', ‘Des’, 'Whitehouse Farm’, ‘The Long Shadow’ & ‘Stephen' and has contributed to some of the UK's most compelling true crime shows including ‘Conviction: Murder at the Station’ and ‘Murder in Suburbia’, 'Murders That Shocked The Nation', 'Murder by the Sea', 'Dark Lands', 'Donal MacIntyre’s Killer Evidence’, ‘Expert Witness’, Crimewatch Live and 'Wrongly Accused’ as well as various award-winning podcasts.

To honour her extraordinary accomplishments, Jo was recognised as one of 2024’s ‘Women of the Year’.
