Biography
Rosanna Brown is a former English teacher with twelve years’ experience in the secondary school classroom. Rosanna’s life changed forever when her wanted son was diagnosed as ‘incompatible with life’ late in pregnancy. Over a matter of weeks, Rosanna went from an expectant mother to a grieving one, as she and her husband were forced to make the devastating choice to terminate the pregnancy before her son was born. It was a choice no parent should ever have to make.
In order to cope, Rosanna turned to journaling, writing about her emotions and fears as she and her husband went through the unimaginable. Over time, this journaling became her lifeline - and she realised the impact that her words might have on other parents going through a similar experience. She created a social media page - The Silence of TFMR - where she began to share these words, and became a volunteer for ARC (Antenatal Results and Choices) - a charity which supports parents in her situation. Now, she often finds herself to be one of the first people that parents reach out to when they are in the depths of their grief, and she uses her platform to bring grieving parents together through writing, help groups and one to one support. This has resulted in the creation of her first book, The Silence of TFMR, publishing in October 2026. It will be the first book dedicated to the subject.
With a first-class honours degree in English Literature and Media, Rosanna works to break the stigma of termination for medical reasons and create a space for parents going through this awful experience to be heard.
