Biography

Rachel Sambrooks is a writer and Runner Up of the Comedy Women in Print prize (CWIP) 2025. She is also a stand-up comedian, poet and content creator for the games industry. She is also a wellbeing advocate taking comedy and creative writing workshops to community groups.

Encouraging connection through humour, empathy and hope is her cornerstone. Her poetry and short fiction has been published by Palewell Press and in anthologies including Digbeth Stories from Floodgate Press and Anne-thology published by Broken Sleep. Shoreline of Infinity magazine and epoque press' ezine have also featured her work. She also hosted and co-produced a podcast series ‘Stand By Your Nan’ celebrating unsung grandmothers, featuring comedian Sarah Keyworth and poet Francesca Beard.

Her writing has been featured on BBC Radio and she has been long listed for the CLiPPA award, Writers&Artists short story prize, is in the top 7% for the Bridport Short Story prize and is finalist for The Sitcom Trials as writer/performer.

Rachel lives in Birmingham, is a member of the Tindal Street Fiction Group and part of the Room 204 group with Writing West Midlands. She has appeared on BBC’s Mastermind – her expert subject being the short fiction of George Saunders – and she is a keen quiz and word puzzle addict.
